ACT in Action: Central Asian Conflict Resolution

In 2002, ACT partnered with the UN University for Peace to lead an innovative intensive summer course in conflict resolution for faculty from Central Asia. ACT's Nataliya Mirimanova served as Director of Studies for the UN University of Peace's pilot course of a three-year program for Central Asia on conflict and peace studies. Students were senior and junior faculty, political analysts and leaders of non-governmental and governmental organizations dealing with security and development from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The intensive ten week program introduced 30 students from 4 Central Asian countries to 6 topics. Students created their own curricula for teaching at home.
