ACT in Action: Education & Training
Education and Training: Training in conflict analysis, resolution, prevention, and related areas, and dissemination of related information.
- ACT Forums: In 2002, ACT launched and has since maintained a web-based educational information service providing guidance on the field of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and related events, workshops, jobs, and resources. This service has attracted over 4,000 ACT members as regular readers of posted information.
- Albania Facilitation: ACT designed and delivered a two-day training workshop for 5 leaders of Albanian nongovernmental organizations in Facilitation Skills for The Carter Center in 2002.
- Central Asian Conflict Resolution: ACT designed and delivered a two-month long intensive graduate seminar for 20 professors and advanced graduate students from Central Asian universities in Conflict Resolution for the United Nations University for Peace Central Asian Program in 2002, and continues work with the UN University for Peace in 2003. - Civil-Military Cooperation: In 2003, ACT-Pacific assisted the Center of Excellence in Diaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance by facilitating small group activities designed to develop civil military cooperation during UN Peace Operations.

Conflict Analysis & Intervention Design: In cooperation with Conflict Management Group, ACT designed and delivered a training workshop for Romanian NGOs and national government and development personnel in Conflict Analysis & Intervention Design Skills for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Romania in 2002.
- Conflict Resolution Korea: In 2003, ACT-Pacific developed conflict resolution curricula and training programs for Korean educators. ACT worked in partnership with the Korea Anabaptist Center to deliver conflict resolution training for elementary, middle, and high school educators.
- Conflict Transformation Training: ACT has designed and delivered a series of introductory training programs in conflict transformation for educators from the former Soviet Union for the American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR).
- Cyprus Conflict Management: ACT designed and delivered a five-day training workshop for 25 young Greek and Turkish Cypriot adults in conflict management skills for the Cyprus-American Scholarship Program (CASP) administered by AMIDEAST in 2002.
- Cyprus Pro-Active Leadership Program: ACT designed and implemented a 3-week summer program that taught leadership and cooperative problem solving skills to 32 Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot high school students during July 2005. The program was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia and administered by AMIDEAST.
- East Timor Mediation and Conciliation: ACT designed and delivered a three-day training workshop for 12 Timorese district representatives in Mediation and Conciliation Skills for the Carter Center in 2001.
- Facilitation: ACT designed and delivered a one-day training in Facilitation for the Virginia Association of Conflict Resolution in 2001 and 2002.
- Georgian-Abkhaz Workshops: ACT designed and delivered conflict resolution and related workshops in month-long intensive summer programs for 60 Abkhaz and Georgian war-affected youth in 1999 and 2000, and a follow-up leadership training program in partnership with The Carter Center in March 2002.

Indonesian Peer Mediation Training: Trained 20 Indonesian educators in peer mediation techniques and program development strategies. Provided materials and curriculum to help them develop programs in their schools. Sponsored by Ohio University and the Center for Research on Inter-group Relations and Conflict Resolution at the University of Indonesia, in March 2005.
- Irish Peace Process Cultural and Training Program: In 2002, ACT designed and delivered over 17 workshops on Conflict Resolution and Cross-Cultural communication for over 260 Catholics and Protestants from targeted conflict zones on Northern Ireland and Ireland in preparation for and as enrichment for their work in the United States under the Walsh Visa Program. This built on similar work in 2001, and continues in 2003.
- Israeli-Palestinian Youth Focused Peace Partners Program: ACT-Pacific continues to work with Fairfax County Public Schools (Fairfax, Virginia) to develop conflict resolution curricula and training for Israeli and Palestinian educators and youth.
- Intergroup Conflict Resolution in Israeli Schools: In 2002, ACT continued work with the Israeli Ministry of Education to design and deliver a nation-wide intergroup conflict resolution and violence prevention training of trainers program.
- Kyrgyz Training: ACT designed and delivered a training program in conflict prevention and resolution for civil society and governmental representatives from Kyrgyzstan in 2003.
- Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General: Conducted 2 presentations on conflict resolution and peer mediation for over 60 school educators and peer mediation coordinators in Spring 2005.
- Peer Mediation Training: In 2003, ACT-Pacific conducted peer mediation workshops for Maui County high school students.
