Description
Are you currently studying for a degree, or pursuing a career in peacebuilding/conflict resolution or related fields? Are you currently in the field but seeking to advance your career? If yes, consider participating in ACT's career workshop. Through presentations, exercises, examples and discussion, participants in this one-day workshop will develop concrete skills and resources that will aid them in advancing their careers.
The workshop is suitable for entry-level to mid-level professionals. Topics to be covered include:
- Exploring the diverse career paths available to individuals interested in the field, including domestic and international opportunities
- Balancing the need to earn a living and the desire to positively impact the world and/or specific communities
- Potential career pitfalls
- Strategies for better marketing one's skills
- Improving resumes/cover letters through critical feedback and suggestions
- Action planning and next steps for advancing your career
- Discussion panel with diverse panel of practitioners
By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will develop increased knowledge and skills, and an action plan to advance their careers. Each participant will receive a resource packet with recommended resources in the field (both online and in print). In addition, a listserve will be established to provide on-going support and feedback after the conclusion of the workshop. The workshop fee also includes a light lunch.
