Resolving Conflict

ACT believes that conflicts are embedded in relations at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and international levels, and include psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, political, historical, and economic dimensions. We use multi-faceted approaches to develop better understandings of conflict situations and create effective interventions. All of ACT’s services incorporate a set of basic ethical values.

  • Participatory methods and processes enhance ownership of decisions and actions.
  • Inclusiveness for the full range of personal, professional, and cultural diversity creates successful conflict transformation and social change efforts.
  • Empowerment enables people to openly and directly influence the conditions and decisions that govern their lives.
  • Social Responsibility, Justice, and Healing acknowledges and corrects inequities and injustices, and promotes individual and community healing.
  • Building Relationships means fostering open, honest, and trusting working relationships.
  • Confidentiality respects your needs for safe and confidential forums to address your concerns and resolve conflicts.
  • Accessibility makes the skills and processes of conflict transformation accessible, and provides pro-bono assistance to those in need who lack available resources.
  • Modeling the Values is an inclusive, participative and flexible organizational structure and relationships that encourage growth, change, and learning.
