Susan Allen Nan, PhD

Dr. Susan Allen Nan earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. She completed her dissertation on coordination and complementarity of conflict resolution efforts in 1999. She then worked as Senior Program Associate for conflict resolution at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where she represented former President Jimmy Carter in mediations and conflict resolution initiatives worldwide.
Susan's regional expertise is strongest in Russian-speaking areas of Eurasia thanks to her fluency in Russian, but she has also worked in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe. Her majors contributions to ACT's work have been through directing an intensive facilitation course, co-directing the Abkhaz-Georgian conflict resolution summer programs and the Cyprus training, and serving as ACT's director from 2002-2004. |

Susan has taught graduate courses in Conflict Resolution at both George Mason University and American University.
